Manufacturing Associate

LOCATION: Frederick, MD - Onsite

REPORTS TO: Pilot Plant General Manager

FLSA STATUS: Full-Time, Non- Exempt (Hourly), Various Shifts

General Summary / Position Purpose

The candidate must demonstrate a strong safety work ethic, while striving to support the reliable production of innovative top-quality products for our customers. The Manufacturing Associate will be engaged personally through interaction and teamwork across all functions and specialties to ensure optimal flow of materials within process reliability and financial metrics, including resolving short and long-term challenges or key opportunities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Works safely and effectively in an industrial team-based environment, is responsible for many items traditionally managed by leadership such as leading safety, managing performance, conducting training, and improvement projects.

  2. Works unsupervised and makes decisions to safely and effectively operate equipment based on established standard and OSHA practices and at certified associate skill level.

  3. Maintains frequent and effective communications with facility personnel and leaders, performing duties (reactive and preventative) efficiently.

  4. Operates daily manufacturing process equipment, forklifts, and other mobile equipment.

  5. Performs preventive maintenance and clean-up of equipment.

  6. Performs quality checks and ensures production of a quality product.

  7. Problem-solves and troubleshoots reliability issues by proactively identifying areas of improvement, evaluate alternatives, recommend, and implement solutions. 

  8. Conducts and completes required paperwork and recordkeeping.

  9. Follows all OSHA and other company safety guidelines.

  10. Performs in a manner consistent with company Core Values.

  11. Maintains strictest confidentiality of operating process/parameters/targets, when dealing with anyone that is not an InventWood team member.

  12. Completes all required training and maintains certifications.

  13. Stays current with personal ongoing development and is willing to mentor other associates in their development.

  14. Attends all scheduled meetings.

  15. Manages any stress on the job, including but not limited to meeting deadlines.

  16. Provides excellent internal customer service.

  17. Actively and always demonstrate teamwork.

  18. Always adheres to company safety standards, such that no serious (requiring medical attention) injury occurred in the prior 12-month period.

  19. Follows other policies and procedures such that there are no verbal or written warnings during the evaluation period.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Proven ability to communicate with team.

  • Fluently speak, read, and write English.

  • Proven ability to operate production equipment or ability to learn to do so.

  • Ability to follow safety requirements.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • Strong emotional intelligence and humility; ability to manage stress, including but not limited to meeting deadlines.

  • Ability to work onsite 5 days a week and work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.

  • Must be available to work evenings/weekend to meet project deadlines.

Physical demands

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50-75% of time with prolonged periods standing at and operating the equipment.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds multiple times a day and push a heavy cart.

  • Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization’s physical premises.

  • Must be able to identify and understand visual and audio signals.

  • Must be able to maneuver small instruments and tools with precision.

  • Must be able to be fitted for, and wear, a respirator.
